This course is aimed at new e¹ administrators.…
e1 has allowed us as a school to store assessment information centrally and moved the recording of these grades from pieces of paper in the staff room that were completed by hand.
Staff now have the freedom to complete them in their own teaching rooms or if they prefer, they can complete them at home. This is the first step on our road towards online reporting.

Historically the mechanism employed to measure how much pupils are achieving has always been to track assessments, how many levels of achievement have been attained etc. However, this view on attainment is narrow and often circumstances outside of school may have had a bearing on the results.
Using the Monitoring functionality within e¹, Schools are able to measure more widely than just assessments for example behaviour, timekeeping and even activities conducted outside of school premises or hours can be tracked. This enables teachers to have a more rounded view of their pupils giving an insight into factors which may affect performance such as a family bereavement without asking awkward questions.
Any type of event (positive, negative or for information) can be recorded and if required can be attributed a ‘score’. Scores can be used to provide incentives or identify pupils who are in need of further assistance.
When used in conjunction with pupil assessment, teachers can gain a more holistic view of how pupils are performing.
